Fracturing of hydrocarbon wells has been evolving since 1947. Improvements in technology have helped propel Fracking from an art to a science resulting in a robust industry capable of executing hundreds of precise frac operations a day across North America and around the world.
The increasing number of operations necessitates even better technology and higher reliability at lower costs to allow more efficient use of equipment, personnel and resources.
A key element of the Frac operation is the Frac Plug. We at Boss Hog have accepted the challenge to build a Drillable Composite Frac Plug that addresses the performance needs of our customers.

Our Company Our Technology

Boss Hog is committed to building the best drillable Frac Plug in the industry. We have our own design team, composites manufacturing facility and machine shop. We designed, manufactured and in house tested our new line of drillable frac plugs from the ground up. Our president, Duke VanLue, has been on location for all of our field tests, discussed the results with our customers and has taken that knowledge home to help make our tools the best in class.

Simplicity

Our experienced design team lived and breathed plugs for six months. They got rid of all the dead weight and came up with a sixteen inch long plug that can hold back any old 10,000 psi frac.

Testing

We built a mobile test lab which allows us to simulate temperature, pressure, flow and particulate environments.

Pressure

The key requirement of a frac plug is to hold pressure. We developed a sealing system which allows our plug to reliably hold pressure differentials of 12,000 psi frac after frac. We lab test our plugs to 12,500 psi at bottom hole temperatures daily.

Flow

Our plugs are designed with oversize through bores to help withstand the shock waves associated with the perforating operation, minimize back pressure and maximize flow. Our customers indicate our plugs yield the highest pressure spikes and the most consistent frac profiles they have seen. They have also seen a significant reduction in total fluids required to complete their fracs.

Deployment

Getting there is half the fun. Our new series of Frac Plugs are designed for wireline deployment at line speeds up to 600 feet per minute. Our compact design is virtually preset-proof. Our slips are designed with a large contact area to minimize casing damage.

Temperature

We have bullet proof 10K-250F psi and 10K-350F psi plugs for all weights of 4.5 and 5.5 casing.
We manufacture our own fiberglass composite material. We are currently qualifying plugs systems for 10K-400F environments.

Drillability

At the end of the day a drillable frac plug must be drilled. Our 16 inch long plug is tuned for milling. In the industry, 30 minute mill outs are something to brag about. Our recent field tests averaged less than 6 minutes per plug in vertical hole and 12 minutes per plug on a 45 plug horizontal program.
